My first show with the Jackson Theatre Guild was "Little Mary Sunshine" in 1972, directed by David Pyron! Pat Gilliland Alford was Little Mary and Roger Cowan, then- minister of music at West Jackson Baptist Church, was the male lead. I played Fleet Foot, an Indian guide who was about 100 years old! (I was only 19 at the time! ) My grand entrance was crashing head-first into a porch post! 🤣
. The performances were held at the old Jackson Junior High School building at Cartmell Street and Lexington Avenue. Early rehearsals were held at the Fletcher house, which was located on a spot where the Rotary Park is now. The Guild was already producing wonderful plays (mostly musicals) at that time.
The Jackson Theatre Guild has grown TREMENDOUSLY since the early 1970s and I am thrilled! Congratulations! 💕🥰👌💕
