Jack and Leo, two English Shakespearean actors, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit. When they hear that an old lady is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get there, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a taste of it.
Jack
English actor, part of a 2 man troupe that has seen better days. More cautious and less daring than his partner. Late 30's to 40's.
Leo
Other half of the 2 man British acting troupe. Flair for the dramatic. Acts first...thinks later. Late 30's to 40's.
Meg
Local girl in her early 30s. She's vivacious, with enormous warmth and a great sense ofhumor. She also has the fresh, unstudied beauty that most women would kill for. She harbors a world of dreams.
Duncan Wooley
He's the local minister and substantially older than MEG. He's a good man at heart. but rather fussy, set in his ways. A bit scatterbrained.
Doc Meyers
He's the ChiefMoose - A crusty, likeable curmudgeon. A country doctor who takes no gufffrom anybody.
Audrey
About 20. Extremely well built and extremely sweet and good-natured. A knockout.
Butch (Doc's son)
Early 20's. A little slow on the uptake, but earnest and sincere with a good heart. He played football in high school. DOC and Butch argue a lot but adore each other.
Florence
Old. Extremely crusty and her eyesight is terrible.) |
